In order to close a real estate deal, it is important that a home inspection is performed. Because of that, real estate agents should understand how the home inspection process works in order to ensure the process works properly.

For many new realtors, they have a tendency to not utilize home inspections. They mistakenly conclude that an inspection will delay or even stop the sale. This is not recommended by most experienced real estate agents. Instead, they suggest taking steps to make sure the home inspection process works as it should.

In order to prepare for the inspection day, here are a few suggestions.

  1. Find out where the opening to the crawl space is located. You should take steps to make sure the opening is accessible by the home inspector.
  2. Find out where the opening to the attic is located. It could be in any number of places such as the bedroom or garage. If there is anything obstructing access to the attic, it should be removed before the home inspector arrives.
  3. You should find out where all the electric panels are located. This could include an sub panels in the basement or garage. It could be that they are located behind cabinets or other objects. Make sure the inspector has easy access to all of these.
  4. Find out where the water heater is located. The water heater can be located in several different areas. It could be in the attic or even behind a refrigerators. You should make sure the water heater is easily accessible to the home inspector.
  5. Find out where the heater / airconditioner is located. In most cases, these are easily accessible but sometimes in could even be in the attic or crawl spaces.
  6. You should make sure the areas under and around the sinks are clear of clutter.
  7. If a full inspection is required, then the water, electricity, and the gas has to be functional.

If you follow the given suggestions, then your house will be well prepared for inspection day.
